FINALLY! A NEW POST!

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I've been kinda depressed or discouraged or something.
I really wanted to do Lava Man in April but I guess I gave up on it because I can't get the swimming down. I'm slower than a snail and can't seem to get my stroke and breathing right. Even if I could swim a mile, I probably couldn't do it in the time limit since snails are so slow and I'm even slower.
Anyway, when you're depressed, the last thing you feel like doing is writing a post. After all, who wants to read about your discouragement????
I finally went swimming tonight after not swimming for a couple of weeks and actually got a glimpse of hope that maybe I CAN do Lava Man. I still don't know, but maybe if I work really hard I can do it. I at least have the goal back in my head which hasn't been there for awhile.
So if you see me out there swimming like a snail, don't laugh at how slow I am because I'll just be working on getting stronger and faster so I can do Lava Man.

Karen It must be somthing in the air. I haven't done a single Pilate in a long time either. I hope you do the Lava Man. What does it really matter how fast you finish, just that you finish. With so much time until the event, you still have time to get faster at all three events. Please don't be sad. I love reading your posts and I am very glad your back.I would love to hear more about your childrens Stories that Randy mentioned once. Hang in there.

Okay, lemme know...does Honu sell out?

I did Lavaman twice. Swam fast, cruise control on the bike, and walked the entire run course...so I think youll be able to finish the swim in that time limit.

I think you should do it...dont get discourage!!!

KAREN!

I totally love your honesty, so refreshing! I think Leann needs to move back home (I miss her!!) and us 3 should start up a woman's Bible study or prayer group!

Hey, you have time with that swimming, I promise you that if you keep at it and don't let discouragement get in the way you can do it! PLEASE Karen, know I will help if you ever want to meet at the pool. When I get home from Texas (Oct. 6) I will have loads of free time!

Love ya!

The main thing with swimming is just to keep at it, by having a regularly practice schedule for each week (that makes it easier for the body to know what to expect, a bit like taking regular meals). Keep records of what you are doing. Even if your times were not to improve, you would gain a lot in terms of just general fitness and a healthy feeling, etc. Even when in Kona I just assumed I was a so-so swimmer. However, we should never just assume we are so-so at anything. Have fun and enjoy it. It is never to late to learn.
